This video will show you our waterproof area and reveal our whole waterproof test procedure of LED cabinets. You can intuitively realize this process.

To ensure the product’s waterproof performance, EagerLED has set up a waterproof area for waterproof testing. The ceiling of the test area is designed with water spouts, which can be used to test the waterproof level of the display using different forms of water spray.

For IPX1 to IPX3 (basic protection):

• Drip test (IPX1): Place the equipment under a source of water (controlled drip) for a specified period, usually 10 minutes.
• Splash test (IPX2): Place the device at a 15 degree angle and expose it to splash water for 10 minutes.
• Water spray test (IPX3): Simulates exposure to rain for 5 minutes by spraying water from a nozzle at a specified rate and angle.

For IPX4 to IPX6 (medium to strong protection):

• IPX4: A water jet at a specified pressure (10 litres per minute) is used for 5 minutes at all angles.
• Powerful water jet (IPX5 and IPX6): The cabinet is exposed to a high-pressure water jet (e.g. from a 6.3 mm diameter nozzle) for a few minutes to simulate heavy rain or hosepipe washdown conditions.

For IPX7 to IPX8 (high protection – immersion test):

• Immersion test (IPX7): Immerse the cabinet in water for a period, typically 30 minutes, to a depth of 1 metre.
• Extended Immersion Test (IPX8): Immerse the cabinet to a greater depth and for a longer period (sometimes up to 3 metres or more, depending on the rating). The exact depth and duration depends on the manufacturer’s specifications.

Then tester will check LED cabinets for any visible damage such as water ingress, corrosion or cosmetic changes. And they test the functionality of the cabinet, including any buttons, touch screen or power functions, to ensure that they work properly after exposure to water.

Last, they will note down the type of test, duration, water pressure and any other relevant details. If it passes the waterproofing test according to the rating, it can be assumed to be waterproof to that rating.
